If you haven't backed up your notes before, it can even be worse. But don't worry, this article will show you how to recover deleted notes, whether you have a backup or not.

Part 1. How to Recover Recently Deleted Notes on iPhone

If you have deleted your notes within 30 days, you can try this method. With iOS 11 and newer versions, the Notes app on your iPhone contains a folder called Recently Deleted. You can get back deleted notes here, just like recovering recently deleted photos from Recently Deleted in the Photos App on your iPhone. The procedures required for this method are simple:

Your deleted notes can be found and restored in your iTunes backups if you have backed up your iPhone to iTunes before. Following is how to get back deleted notes via iTunes.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer that you have synced your data with. Launch iTunes.

Step 2. Click the iPhone button on the top left. Then, choose Summary > Restore Backup. Wait for your iPhone to be restored to the latest iTunes backup.

How to Recover Deleted Notes via iCloud

iCloud is always useful for getting back your data after the manual or automatic deletion on your Apple devices. You can retrieve deleted notes on your iPhone if you have turned on iCloud backups. Here's how:

Step 1. Go to Settings > General > Reset. Select Erase All Content and Settings.

Step 2. Choose Restore from iCloud Backup. Sign in with your Apple account.

Step 3. Choose a backup that contains your deleted notes. Tap it and wait for restoration.

How to Recover Deleted Notes via Email Account Settings

If you have synchronized your notes with a third-party email account (e.g., Gmail), you will still be able to retrieve deleted notes in the Settings. Following is the step-by-step guidance.

Step 2. Choose the email account that stores your notes. Ensure that the toggle next to Notes is turned on. If not, turn it on.

Part 4. How to Recover Permanently Deleted Notes

It is possible that you can retrieve permanently deleted notes (deleted from the Recently Deleted folder) via the iCloud website if you have turned on Notes for iCloud. This method is achievable only when your iPhone is not connected to the Internet when your notes are removed from the Recently Deleted folder.
